Semiconductor Summer School in Eindhoven

This summer, NYCU was honored to collaborate with Eindhoven University of Technology to create this unique program that brings semiconductor talents from Taiwan and the Netherlands together. For a span of 5 days, short lectures of various topics on semiconductor technology were given by researchers from both countries, and students also gained valuable experience from visiting renown companies such as ASML, Smart Photonics, and NXP.
Prof. Chung, delegating NYCU and overseeing four NYCU students, gave a lecture on radiation effects in semiconductor devices, a major research focus of Rad-Hard Lab. The feedback from the attendees was very positive, and Rad-Hard Lab is always enthusiastic to share the knowledge and introduce rad-hard technology.

In total, there were about 30 students and 20 experienced researchers attending the summer school. Besides the technical sessions, networking and social events were apart of the program and brought people closer. The cultural exchange facilitating mutual understanding and potential collaboration in the future was fascinating and priceless. Prof. Chung was honored to have the chance to have lengthy conversations with the main host of the event, Prof. Aida Todri-Sanial, who was of extremely great personality and an outstanding researcher.
On a less serious note, students from Taiwan were able to enjoy the splendid view and attractions of the Netherlands because of the summer school. For most of these students, it was there first time to the country and they were amazed especially by the beautiful canals and the history of Amsterdam. It should be of no surprise if any of them returns to the Netherlands in the near future. Overall, the experience was unforgettable, and it would be difficult to find another event with such fulfillment.
