Semiconductor technology over the years has become crucial to the economic development of many countries across the world, impacting not just consumer electronics but also electric vehicles, power grids, and even national defense. The supply chain of the technology has also become so enormous that it requires the effort of more than just a few countries to keep it alive and healthy. Simply put, semiconductor technology needs talents from all over the world in order to keep up with the demand of a steady growth of a smart society. With this is mind, Taiwan is taking the initiative to provide access to the training of such global talents though various semiconductor program and scholarship for international students. This time, a scholarship for graduates from Poland, Slovakia, Czech, and Lithuania has been announced to further facilitate exchange between Taiwan and Eastern Europe.

Delegating NYCU, Prof. Chung and Prof. Niall Tumilty who is also a friend of Rad-Hard Lab have traveled to Eastern Europe to promote this scholarship program, together with delegates from National Taiwan University, National Tsing-Hua University, National Cheng Kung University, and National Sun Yat-Sen University. The team has visited Charles University, Masaryk University, Warsaw University of Technology, Vilnius University, Kaunas University of Technology, and Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Warm welcomes were given by all these school officials, and we are expecting more students from these countries to join our program to learn about semiconductor technology. Hopefully years from now, there will be a new generation of brilliance contributing to the world that originated from this initiative.
